Winston Price, M.D., FAAP - Chief Information & Technology Officer Dr. Price earned his medical degree from the Weill Cornell Medical College and completed a residency in pediatrics at The New York Hospital-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Winston Price, M.D., FAAP, FACPE is a board-certified pediatrician and served as the 105th President of the National Medical Association (NMA). Dr. Price serves as the President and Chair for the National African American Drug Policy Coalition and also serves as the Chair of the Southwest Georgia Area Health Education Center (SOWEGA-AHEC) which focuses its mission to recruit, train and retain a robust and highly qualified health workforce for 38 counties in SW GA. He also serves as Chief Information Officer for the W. Montague COBB/NMA Health Institute. The Cobb Institute is a health equity think tank and focuses on increasing the pipeline of researchers from currently URM and works on joint initiatives with the NIH All of Us Research Program. He was appointed to serve on the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health Council/Steering Committee. He has served on numerous advisory boards including the Board of Directors of the National Center on Missing and Exploited Children The Childhood Influenza Immunization Coalition, The Adult Vaccine Advisory Group, the Merck Vaccine Division and Medimmune RSV Advisory group. He continues to represent the NMA on the National Adult and Influenza Immunization Summit (NAIIS). He serves locally as a director on the Decatur County Board of Health and as a medical/technology advisor on the Collaborative Impact Decatur County (CIDC), which is a non-profit community health promotion initiative. He holds academic positions at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Director of Pathway Programs for the SW Georgia Campus; and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Price also practices clinical medicine serving a SW population in Georgia with a focus on preventive care. |

The W. Montague Cobb Institute Mourns the Passing of Dr. Edith P. Mitchell, Trailblazer & Oncology Research Icon
The W. Montague Cobb Institute mourns the sudden and untimely loss of world-renowned cancer researcher and Vice-Chair of its Board of Directors and Chair of the Clinical Research Division. On Sunday, January 21, 2024, Dr. Edith P. Mitchell died doing what she enjoyed best - serving humanity and furthering the lives of cancer patients. Dr. Mitchell was a staunch advocate on cancer research and has been an outstanding Past President of the NMA and current Editor-In-Chief of the JNMA, where her contributions have been immense. She has provided leadership for the Cobb Institute including the establishment of the Jane Cooke Wright Cancer Symposium each year at the National Medical Association Convention and Scientific Assembly. "We share in the collective grief that is felt throughout the US and her contributions to the Cobb Institute will never be forgotten," stated Dr. Randall Morgan- President & CEO.
Dr. Mitchell was Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology and served as Clinical Professor of Medicine and Medical Oncology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and Associate Director for Diversity Programs and Director of the Center to Eliminate Cancer Disparities for Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson.
Dr. Mitchell has spent her medical career helping individuals in underserved areas, and has demonstrated the importance of community service and outreach especially to underserved populations. Her research in breast, colorectal and pancreatic cancers and other Gl malignancies involved new drug evaluation and chemotherapy. development of new therapeutic regimens, chemoradiation strategies for combined modality therapy, patient selection criteria, and supportive care for patients with gastrointestinal cancer.
