Research Agenda

Our Community of Scholars is engaged in scholarly research on racial and ethnic disparities in health and healthcare in order to inform policy, practice, and public understanding around health disparities and racism in medicine.

The Cobb Institute’s objectives are as follows:

Research and Data Analysis. The Cobb Institute’s primary objective is to conduct research on issues that impact African Americans and other medically underserved populations; to identify and review effective applications of interventions in a variety of settings, and examine and recommend the implementation of evidence-based interventions. As a data-driven organization, The Cobb Institute conducts research and performs analyses of data to examine the interrelationships among risk factors and diseases; to update scientific findings about the links between behavior factors, social determinants, and health; and to identify factors involved in health and disease for which research is not complete.

Research and Knowledge Dissemination. The Cobb Institute’s second objective is to strategically apply, disseminate and implement new and existing data and information to inform and influence health policy, health programs and health practice. The Cobb Institute is both a forum and a knowledge source for physicians and extenders, policymakers, third-party payers, program planners, and key health care organizations that directly or indirectly have an impact on the health status of racial and ethnic minorities in America.
